Because of this we decided that we should publish all of our teaching resources as downloadable products.  Having published a selection of our products on this web site, we decided that it would be far better to use a dedicated shopping site for the best possible customer experience. However, in the mean time you will be pleased to learn that all of our products are available from our eBay shop. eBay does not allow sellers to offer products as digital downloads so unfortunately they  have to be mailed on CD which incurs postal charges and they take time to be delivered. I am also going through boxes of teaching resources to find other suitable equipment that the orphanage may find useful. The nursery is run as 3 classes from age 2-6. It is run as part of the orphanage which is called Mama Janes and is located in Jinja- a town on Lake Victoria.

Uganda Support Fund

The purpose of the fund is to raise money for various projects which have included painting the orphanage and providing some equipment for the nursery as well as other projects in other areas such as building a school out in the village of Kawanga. They also arrange for people to sponsor children at the orphanage so that they can go to a better school.

Clare is using my resource packs to work with the teachers of the nursery in trying to encourage them to tell more stories and use resources alongside such as the story packs to be more interactive with the children rather than just talk at them. She is also trying to get them to display more as there is often a mindset in Uganda that they don’t want to put stuff on the walls because it will get spoilt! The teachers are young and keen and are open to suggestions.

The Three Little pigs is one of many traditional tales. The story begins with the Three little Pigs being sent out into the world by their mother to “seek their fortune”. The first little pig builds a house of straw but a wolf blows it down. The second pig builds a house of sticks but with the same result. Each exchange between wolf and pig features ringing proverbial phrases, namely “Little pig, little pig, let me in”, “not by the hair on my chinny chin chin”, “then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down”. The third pig builds a house of bricks. The wolf cannot huff and puff hard enough to blow the house down. He attempts to trick the third little pig out of the house, but the pig outsmarts him at every turn. Finally, the wolf resolves to come down the chimney, whereupon the pigs boil a pot of water into which the wolf plunges.
