Individual Education Plan (IEP)
Does your child have an Individual Education Plan (IEP)?
If the answer to this question is yes then you and your child should have access to it. The IEP should include the following information about their learning:
- short term targets set for pupil
- teaching strategies to be used
- provision to be put in place
- when plan is to be reviewed
- outcome of action taken
The IEP should be child friendly and should be referred to regularly by the child so that they are aware of their targets and how they are progressing in meeting their targets.
An IEP should only include that which is additional to or different from provision made for all pupils. Some children may be working in small groups on a similar target and therefore may have a group IEP or group targets.
The strategies may be cross curricular or subject specific. It is the responsibility of the class teacher to carry out the interventions set out in the IEP.
