Little Bear can’t sleep. There is dark all around him in the Bear Cave. Not even Big Bear’s biggest lantern can light up the darkness of the night outside. Eventually Big Bear finds the perfect way to reassure Little Bear and help him fall asleep.
The theme of a fear of the dark is central to the book and this can be explored at different levels depending on the maturity of the children.
The use of repetitive language enables children at all levels to ‘read’ with confidence.
