Testimonials

When Rachel first came to us, Alice was desperately unconfident and afraid of maths.  She’d had a bad experience with an impatient teacher a couple of years back, and never fully caught up from there.  Rachel’s steady, warm approach produced results in Alice immediately.  It was clear that she was more than capable, but needed the encouragement and teaching that Rachel was able to give her.  Alice is now in Year 6, and she came home from school last night proudly waving the results from her ‘quick-fire’ times table test.  She got 99 out of 100!  Thank you Rachel, for bringing her up to speed again, but most importantly for restoring her self-belief.

Rachel assisted my 8 year old daughter throughout the summer holidays in both literacy and mathematics. We were impressed from the start by Rachel’s professional approach in meeting with us to discuss and assess our
daughter’s requirements, liaising with her existing school teachers and forming an overall picture of my daughter’s strengths and weaknesses. From this Rachel was able to provide a very structured approach to learning
whilst also making it fun. In Rachel’s approach to teaching and the realistic goals she set, my daughter has gained a high degree of confidence which she has taken into her new academic year. I have no doubt I will be
calling upon Rachel in the future to assist in my children’s academic studies and have utmost confidence in both her teaching ability and social interaction to get the very best from my children.

Thank you for all your help Rachel.

My daughter Chloe, age 11, really enjoyed her tutor sessions with Rachel. Rachel is an experienced primary school teacher who understands what is expected for pupils in the national curriculum and knows how to relate to children. she was able to teach and encourage Chloe in a friendly and positive way. Rachel was open and approachable which meant my daughter felt she could ask any questions. Chloe found the one to one sessions extremely valuable in helping her grow in confidence of her abilities. I would thoroughly recommend Rachel Barker as a primary tutor.

Rachel has been working with Holly, age 10 since Easter 2009 after she was diagnosed with dyslexia.

Her improvement in English has been staggering in such a realtively short period of time. Rachel has really helped her confidence, focus and overall fluency of reading, so much so that Holly is now enjoying and participating in English at school.

Rachel has also just started tutoring Holly in maths and I’m sure we will start to see results soon.

Holly really enjoys Rachel’s lessons and the communication and level of enthusiasm between them is incredible. What makes these lessons so successful is Rachel’s ability to make them fun and interesting.

I can’t recommend Rachel highly enough and would happily recommend her to someone.

Thank you Rachel
